Strawberry Sorta Social in Altamont

To the Editor:

We all know that there’s been nothing regular/normal about this year, so Altamont Community Tradition has decided to have a different kind of Strawberry Social this June. There’ll be strawberries, of course, but in a Strawberry Social Distance way.

ACT will be distributing quarts and pints of strawberries, along with recipes for shortcake and whipped cream, on the evening of June 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. (rain date June 24). Neighbors are invited to come to the Altamont Reformed Church parking lot on Lincoln Avenue to pick up their fixings.

Of course this won’t be the familiar Strawberry Social. Due to the ongoing guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the New York State Department of Health, there will be no gathering.

This will be a drive-through or walk-up event. When you come, you’ll need to wear a mask and follow social-distancing protocol. Also, people will be encouraged to take their strawberries and move on to keep traffic flowing so we can serve as many people as possible.

Don’t miss it — on June 23 (rain date June 24), look for the signs, the pop-up tent, the decorated tables, and the strawberries! Say hello, then try your hand at making homemade strawberry shortcake.
