Altamont’s three churches will celebrate Good Friday together

To the Editor:

The three churches in Altamont will hold a combined Good Friday service on April 3 at 1 p.m. at the Altamont Reformed Church at 129 Lincoln Ave.

Father Matthew Duclos from St. Lucy/St. Bernadette Church, Donna Lyons and Pastor Matthew van Maastricht of the Reformed Church, and Pastor Eric Reimer of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church will all participate.

After the service, they will walk over to 140 Maple Ave. with three crosses and put them up in front of St. John’s Church.

I like that various religious groups are joining together.

Father Matt is a gifted musician. It is magical on Sundays to hear him talk to the children who come up to talk with him. He once told me about how he heard the call to the priesthood. I do not personally know the others but have heard positive things.
