To the Editor:
There will be a meeting of the Guilderland Historical Society on Thursday, April 16, at the Guilderland Public Library in the Helderburg Room. The meeting will begin at 1:15 p.m. with a 25 minute business meeting. This will be followed by a presentation by Tim Wiles.
The title of Tim’s presentation is“Got her, need her. Got her, need her.” This will be the story of women’s professional baseball as told through baseball cards.
Tim was the director of the Guilderland Public Library from 2014 until his retirement in 2024. Prior to 2014, Tim was the director of research for the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. And prior to that, in the 1990s, he was the humanities reference librarian at the University of Northern Iowa.
Tim is the author of two baseball books as well as many articles and essays. He is a lifetime member of the Guilderland Historical Society and keeps in touch with the public as a cashier at Hannaford in Guilderland.
Won’t you please join us? It is baseball season.
