Altamont Community Tradition fulfills its mission

To the Editor:

One of the many who reached out to the Altamont Community Food Pantry looking for ways to help those struggling through these especially difficult times, was Altamont Community Tradition. What a wonderful idea ACT came up with.

This organization donated gift cards to the hair salons in Altamont (Pam’s Natural Cuts, Re-Nue Spa, and Salon 146) to be given out to food-pantry recipients. By doing so, they not only helped many in our community who are struggling, by offsetting the cost of a haircut (a necessity we are all craving right now), but also supported these local businesses who have been suffering as well, forced to be closed for months.

Thank you to everyone who is part of ACT and all of the community who has contributed to any of their sponsored fundraisers allowing this group to have the funds needed to make this very generous donation. It is a win-win and is greatly appreciated!

The ACT website, altamontcommunitytradition.org, states that “The mission of Altamont Community Tradition (ACT) is to protect, maintain, and enhance the quality of life in Altamont through education, resource assistance, and community involvement with an emphasis on the historic, cultural, economic, architectural, and landscape environment.” This is definitely one way in which they are clearly fulfilling their mission.
