Beautiful and fitting for our small-town parade

To the Editor:
This year’s Memorial Day parade in Berne brought a welcome return of the tradition of live music performed by our high school students.

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo School Band put on an impressive marching show and they did a great job performing the national anthem for the ceremony.

Trumpeter Lily Sisson played Taps flawlessly in Berne and again in the afternoon in Knox.

We had a fascinating array of floats, motorized units, and marchers that included senior royalty, baby farm animals, antique military vehicles, a horse, and much more.

The weather, the wildflowers along the roadsides, the music, and the commemorations were all beautiful and fitting for our small-town parade.

Thanks to everyone who participated, and to all who came out to watch the parade and observe this important holiday.
