A rhyme for our time. The children come first and we will sling no dirt

To the Editor:

I am writing to the school and community I love:

I lost the election by a few votes, now let’s take some notes.

Those who supported me, listened to my plea.

Politics should play no part, so we will not start.

My platform was out there and that is what we must share.

The children come first and we will sling no dirt.

We don’t all agree but we must, to some degree.

The children come first and many untruths have been dispersed.

Every decision I have made has been thought about, but I was basically told that I had betrayed.

I have a mind of my own, which in my heart I feel I have shown.

Some people are upset but yet —

I’ve got a conscience and a mind of my own, which is more than I can say for those people alone.

Those people thrive on conflict and love to put people down, but I know in my heart my decisions have been sound.

I am proud to say I am a BKW graduate and feel I have served my alma mater and the community to their benefit.

Thank you to the BKW community and the BKW Teachers Association, which had faith in me.

Continue with the good work which has been started.

Thank you.
