Garden club would need new members to make a rose garden at former landfill

To the Editor:

In a recent letter to the Enterprise editor, Marilee Grygelko proposed the creation of a Guilderland Rose Garden at the former landfill site to be coordinated by the Guilderland Garden Club and the town’s Parks and Recreation Department [“Turn a town wasteland into a rose garden,” April 28, 2022].

At our May 9 meeting, members of the Guilderland Garden Club discussed this proposal and determined that this is not a project that we could take on with our current membership. We now maintain the gardens and raised beds at the Mynderse-Frederick House in Guilderland Center and plantings at the Schoolcraft Cultural Center on Route 20.

We would be happy to welcome new members who would be interested in and willing to take on the responsibilities to coordinate and carry out the work that such a project would entail. Of course, the town’s approval and assistance would be needed for such a project.
