Patricia M. Zaremski

Patricia M. Zaremski, who dedicated her life to her family, died peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center in Albany. She was 89.

Born on June 9, 1933, in Albany, to the late Benjamin and Blanche Kross of Colonie, she was the youngest of eight children — five sisters and two brothers.

“Patricia grew up in Colonie, graduating from Roessleville High School,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She was on the cheerleading squad and was crowned homecoming queen.

“After leaving high school, she began a job with the New York Telephone Company. One evening, while square dancing at Pat’s Ranch in Altamont, Patricia met John “Jack” Zaremski Sr. It was love at first sight.

“They began dating and soon became engaged, with plans for marriage. They were married in 1953 and honeymooned in New York City. Now a married couple, they returned home to their apartment at the Zaremski family farm in Guilderland Center.

“Soon after, they moved to New Salem. Sometime later, they purchased their first home on Meadowdale Road in Guilderland Center, very close to the Zaremski family farm. There they raised their three sons, John ‘Jack’ Jr., Michael ‘Mike,’ and James ‘Jim.’ As Mom would always say, I raised ‘My Three Sons’ (like the TV program of those days).

“The family resided there in the beautiful country setting for decades, creating countless memories together: baseball games, family gatherings and picnics, swimming in the ponds, long hikes in the woods, hunting, snowmobiling, ice skating, etc. Jack and Pat would later move into a lovely ranch home in the Woodlawn area of Schenectady, making it easier for them to move around.

“Pat dedicated her life to being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was her life — her pearl of great price. She tirelessly served her family and others, especially children. It was what God called her to do in this life and she did it with excellence. To Mom, all of us say ‘Thank you so much.’ You are already greatly missed.”
