Carol E. Flewelling
ALTAMONT — Carol E. Flewelling “dedicated her life to education, family, and faith, leaving behind a profound legacy,” her family wrote in a tribute.
Born on Sept. 20, 1940, in Queens, New York, she died on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland. She was 85.
“Carol began her career at the Albany Academy for Girls,” her family wrote, “where she inspired young minds with her dedication and passion for learning. Before starting her own family, she laid the groundwork for a life devoted to teaching and mentoring.
“Following her time at the Academy, she took on roles at Albany Medical Center Hospital, serving as a clerk and later as registrar for Albany Med's School of Nursing. Her career culminated in her retirement in 2001 from the registration department of the hospital, a place where she made significant contributions over the years.
“A talented musician, Carol studied voice at The Juilliard School in New York during high school. Her love for music remained a vital part of her life as she became well known for her singing in the choir at the First United Methodist Church of Voorheesville, where she was an active member.
“Carol’s interests extended beyond music; she was an avid traveler, relishing the experiences and memories created through her journeys.
“Her presence will be dearly missed, yet her impact will resonate in the lives of all who knew her. Carol E. Flewelling’s dedication to education, family, and faith stands as a testament to a life well-lived and a heart full of love.”
