Switzkill Farm celebrates Earth Day

To the Editor:

What better way to celebrate Earth Day weekend than by spending time at Switzkill Farm, which has to be one of the most beautiful spots in our little corner of the world in the Hilltowns!

The Switzkill Farm Board has organized a fun day of activities on Sunday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to celebrate the occasion and to welcome spring after a very long winter!

There will be kids’ crafts and activities, radio-controlled car demonstrations, geocaching, local vendors, and honey-bee demonstrations. Kelly Martin, local wildlife rehabilitator, will be on site, a local band will be providing music, and there will be food and drink for all.

Kids are welcome to take home a tree for planting!

At 1 p.m., noted naturalists Nancy Engel and Chuck Ver Straeten will be leading a guided nature and geology walk that should last about an hour. Come dressed for the weather as we look for early signs of spring.

We hope to see you for several hours of fun and discovery!
