Steve Oliver is genuine and down-to-earth

To the Editor:

It was sad to learn that Guilderland’s Highway Superintendent Steve Oliver is retiring at the end of April [“Steve Oliver to retire as Guilderland highway superintendent,” The Altamont Enterprise, March 15, 2018]. He has been one of the finest public servants the town has ever had.

Yet, I’m happy Steve will have more time with his family, especially his grandchildren. I know that’s a priority for him and Leah.

I have been around politics a long time and I do not think I have ever met someone more genuine and more down-to-earth than Steve Oliver. He has served the town for decades, always with a strong work ethic and a sincere commitment and love for our town.

His devotion to the causes of veterans is just one more example of his big heart. On behalf of every Guilderland resident and on behalf of everyone who drives on our roads, thank you, Steve, for a job well done.
