Villagers invited to share their vision for Voorheesville’s future
VOORHEESVILLE — The public is invited to attend a Community Visioning Workshop to inform the village’s Comprehensive Plan Committee.
The workshop will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, at St. Matthew’s Church at 25 Mountainview St. in Voorheesville.
“This is a great opportunity for residents to tell us what our village should be in the future, what it should look like, how we can improve our neighborhoods, and what kind of development there should be,” said Trustee Rich Straut in a release from the village.
“Public input is critical to develop our new comprehensive plan that will reflect what our community really wants Voorheesville to be in the future,” said Mayor Robert Conway in the release. “I encourage everyone to offer their opinions as part of this important process.”
Participants will work in small groups in an informal atmosphere to identify and prioritize the issues and opportunities in Voorheesville, and to develop a vision statement for the village’s future.
The village began a year-long process to update its 1970s’ comprehensive plan in January. The village has hired consultants from Community Planning & Environmental Associates to review current conditions in the village; perform community outreach; and work with the volunteer Comprehensive Plan Committee to create the new vision, goals, and objectives for the plan that will guide future planning, development, infrastructure, capital improvements, and other programming in Voorheesville.
For questions about the comprehensive plan process, contact Rich Straut at the village office at (518) 765-2692. Information about the comprehensive plan may be found online at www.villageofvoorheesville.com.
