A hotel is a need in our community

To the Editor:

My name is Amy Steward and I am a Guilderland resident. I am writing you to show my support for the proposed hotel at Crossgate Mall.

I think that having a hotel in Guilderland is a great idea and would be beneficial to our community. All of my family is from out of state and when we have a large group visiting we have to find hotel accommodations.

Because we do not have any nearby hotels, they are forced to book somewhere on Wolf Road. If they were close by, we would meet them and go to the mall or restaurants in the Guilderland area.

Another reason I think the hotel is a great idea is to accommodate sport teams and other larger groups coming to the area. I am involved with Guilderland High School Booster Clubs as well as Guilderland Travel Baseball and Guilderland Babe Ruth.

We have a beautiful baseball facility and we would love to continue to invite teams for tournaments.  Having this facility in our town that could house baseball and volleyball teams close by would be awesome.

When they are here for the tournaments, they also visit our restaurants and malls for entertainment. I really hope that we will welcome this opportunity; it is a need in our community.
