14-year-old charged with robbing gas station

A 14-year-old from Guilderland has been charged in the robbery of Campus Mobile, which took place in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

The gas station and convenience store are located at 1181 Western Ave., in front of the University at Albany, just over the city line, in Albany.

At about 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 28, the 14-year-old entered the store, along with another suspect, “armed with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money from the register,” says a release from the Albany Police. “The employees inside of the store complied and the suspects fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash and other items from the store.”

Because of his age, the 14-year-old is not being named by police.

He was charged with first-degree robbery and was arraigned Friday morning in Albany City Criminal Court.

The investigation continues.
