Do drop by the Schoolcraft House on Feb. 23 for a tour and refreshments

To the Editor:

There will be an open house at the Schoolcraft House at 2299 Western Ave. in Guilderland from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23. Members of the Guilderland Historical Society and Guilderland Garden Club invite you to join us for an informational visit and refreshments.

Built as a summer home in the 1840s by John L. Schoolcraft in the community where he grew up, this is a gem of Gothic Revival architecture. Schoolcraft left Guilderland as a young man, achieving financial, political, and social success in Albany and Washington, D.C., but never forgot his local connection.

Do drop by to learn more about him and his house and enjoy some refreshments with us. In case of inclement weather, check our website at www.guilderlandhistoricalsociety.org for possible cancellation.
