We need to remember history!

To the Editor:

I recommend reading Representative Paul Tonko’s Op Ed in the Jan. 29 Times Union entitled “ICE has destroyed the public’s trust. It should be abolished.”

He reminds us that ICE [Immigrant and Customs Enforcement] was created in 2003. It was a reaction to the major failure of the government in homeland security — 9/11.

At the time, knowledgeable people predicted that this could come back to bite us and now it has. We need to remember history!
