Berne transfer-station employee Shawn Duncan says he was placed on a 30-day suspension by Highway Superintendent Randy Bashwinger on July 23, one day after Duncan spoke with The Enterprise about concerns he had about Bashwinger.
The policy, created by the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School District but required under law by New York State, would have students keep their smartphones and other internet-capable devices in their lockers during the school day, eschewing the more complicated systems developed by other districts.
