GHS spring sports sign-up underway

GUILDERLAND — Signs-ups begin on Jan. 17 for Guilderland High School students interested in playing spring sports.

Spring sports start March 6, and include boys’ and girls’ track and field, boys’ and girls’ lacrosse, softball, baseball, boys’ tennis, and unified basketball.

Students interested in playing a spring sport should pick up a sport sign-up packet from the high school nurses’ office and return the completed packet to the nurses’ office as soon as possible. The sport packet includes three forms: the School and Sport Physical Form, the Athletic Form, and the Health History Form — all of which are also available online at www.guilderlandschools.org.

Students will not be able to try out or participate in practices without a sports packet cleared by the nurses’ office.

Students needing sports physicals should sign up in advance with the high nurses’ office from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on either Tuesday, Feb. 14, or Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Appointments may take up to one hour.

Tenth-graders, new students, and students seeking working papers may also have physicals.

Students who wear glasses or contact lenses should bring them to the exam.

Students may be examined by their own doctors, but the physical must be completed on the Guilderland High School form and reviewed by the school nurse before a student can sign up for a sport or attend practice.

For more information, visit www.guilderlandschools.org or call the Guilderland High School nurses’ office at (518) 861-8591, ext. 3030.
