Smart folks are trading in snow shovels for suntan lotion

To the Editor:

Wow! It’s now 2 to 1 Democrats over Republicans.

Of course it is not rocket science to figure out why that is. It was not that long ago when Republicans outnumbered Democrats.

In just last week’s news it was reported that over 200,000 people fled New York state in only a 12-month period. This was simply a continuation from the previous several years, only accelerating.

It looks like smart folks are trading in their snow shovels for suntan lotion.

Editor’s note: In our story about Guilderland’s reorganizational meeting, “Santos is a first as Dems conduct business as usual,” we summarized, “In Guilderland, Democrats outnumber Republicans by nearly 2 to 1 and all of the elected officials are Democrats.” The actual numbers reported in the November election story we linked to are:

According to the Albany County Board of Elections, Guilderland has 25,517 enrolled voters: 10,854 are registered as Democrats, 5,685 are registered as Republicans, 597 are Conservatives, 82 are registered in the Working Families Party, and 37 are in the Green Party. That leaves 8,263 Guilderland voters who are not registered with any political party.
