— Calvin Bushnell, the genial mail carrier on route 2, informs the editor that he was the recipient of numerous gifts from his patrons during the holidays. The gifts included cash and many articles for the home. Mr. Bushnell wishes to express his appreciation and thanks to all who remembered him so kindly.

UNION CHURCH
School opened on Tuesday, after the holiday vacation. The teacher, Mrs. Fairlee and son Marshall passed the time at her home in Berne.

Miss Ruth Ostrander had the misfortune to break her collar bone last Wednesday evening, while coasting down hill with a party of young folks.
IDA TYGERT APPOINTED
TOWN CLERK BY BOARD
At a meeting of the Town Board of the town of Guilderland yesterday, Ida Tygert was appointed as town clerk and registrar of vital statistics in place of Peter G. Tygert, who on account of his physical condition was unable to qualify. Mrs. Tygert appointed her daughter, Ina Mae Arnold, as deputy town clerk.

Ice houses are being filled with a fine quality of ice about 10 inches thick.

Harvey J. Taylor, jr., infant son of Harvey and Catherine Urchel Taylor of this village, died Tuesday morning at the residence. The baby was five days old. The funeral was held Thursday from the house.

The collector, Leonard L. Jones, will sit at the Grove hotel on Jan. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and at the Harris house on Jan. 31, to receive town taxes.
AMERICAN LEGION NOTES
Washington — Parents or wives of Americans who died overseas during the world war and whose bodies have not been returned would have an opportunity to visit the graves of their deceased at government expense in a resolution introduced into Congress by Rep. Hamilton Fish, New York, a member of the American Legion. The resolution directs the Secretary of War to provide transportation to American cemeteries overseas.

The brass band of our place had a very enjoyable entertainment on Saturday evening in the lecture room of the M. E. church. The oyster supper was all that could be asked for, the proceeds being $86.00.
