After her husband’s suicide last year, Berne resident Jennifer Williams’s life has transformed as she signals optimism and strength for her two young children while pregnant with a third. She hopes her story will inspire others to remain strong in the face of devastating adversity.
Daniela Filmer, the mother of Zachary Barrantes, the 25-year-old mentally-ill man who survived an attempted suicide at Thacher Park on New Year’s Eve, said no single person or institution is at fault for what happened on Dec.31; there had been breakdowns at every turn that night.
Guilderland Police confirmed the fatality at 1:17 p.m. on Monday and were investigating, a CSX spokesperson wrote in an email to The Enterprise, adding, “It is important to remember how critical it is to steer clear of railroad tracks and active operations.”
“It’s a no-brainer to me,” said Dr. Gail Wasserman. “You want to identify risk systematically … That’s not the end game. The point is to get the needed services.”
