ALTAMONT — Marie McMillen got a different perspective on the Altamont Fair — her life’s work — when she saw it on the big screen.

The summer worship schedule at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 140 Maple Ave., in Altamont on Sunday, Aug. 4, is as follows:

— 9:30 a.m., traditional worship with special music, “It is Well With My Soul”, sung by the Liturgical Choir and the St. John’s Singers.

Leon Rothenberg won a Tony Award this year for sound design for The Nance. 

With all of the rain over the past several days, I was curious about the forecast for the coming week. Settling into my comfortable chair was easy. The day had been unusually testy and I was ready for some wholesome entertainment.

Deadline to enter is Aug. 3. Contestants must be residents of Albany, Schenectady, or Greene counties. 

Frederick Crounse, who lives in the Altamont home of his ancestors, contemplates events which he says skepticism hasn't been able to explain.

Participants in the event camp in tents, in Tawasentha Park, for one to four nights, from Aug. 8 to 12, to demonstrate their commitment to eliminating poverty and substandard housing, and raise money for Habitat for Humanity.
