GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Town Board and the Altamont Village Board of Trustees each approved resolutions, with all affirming votes on Tuesday, to annex 52 acres of land from Guilderland to the village.

“He always loved to look at things from the historic perspective,” said Mr. Persico's wife, Sylvia LaVista Persico, this week. “He liked the investigative work involved in being a historian.”

The President of the United States and our Congress have made news for many months talking about changing the U. S. Immigration Laws. Their deliberations have generated many conversations about immigrations and immigrants. I looked up the definition of immigrant and started to laugh when I read the second definition.

For its entire existence, Altamont has been defined by and has been enhanced by a strong sense of volunteerism in its citizens.  For over 50 years, the Schilling family has personified that sense of volunteerism.

This letter is in response to the article in the Aug. 21 edition of The Altamont Enterprise regarding the reconstruction of Krumkill Road.  The article refers to the cause of the road damage being related to Tropical Storm Irene in 2011.

This historian has filled columns with information on the Schoolcraft House and the congressman that built it, John L. Schoolcraft.
