GUILDERLAND — Stuyvesant Plaza merchants will bring their goods outdoors during the plaza’s second sidewalk sale of the season on Saturday, Aug. 1. The plaza will open at 9:30 a.m. to accommodate shoppers and will remain open until 6 p.m.

While the officers were speaking to Franz, a quantity of cocaine, packaged for distribution, was observed in plain view by the driver’s side seat.

Joseph Stein has become a watchdog for Frenches Hollow where he lives, and this week took pictures of three young men on two different days painting graffiti on the foundation of the bridge over the Normanskill.

Three men were arrested in two separate incidents of painting graffiti on the pedestrian bridge at Frenches Hollow. Luke Mosca and Patrick Gaitor were arrested on Thursday, July 16, and Joshua T. Boyark was arrested on Sunday, July 19.

The state law, adopted in 2009, is named for Leandra Rosado, who was killed that year at age 11 in New York City when her friend’s mother, who was allegedly drunk, flipped the car, killing Rosado and injuring six other children.

ALTAMONT — Florine Writesel had a hardscrabble life, growing up during the Great Depression, moving so often that she never finished a school year in the place she began. She was pregnant at 16, unable to graduate from high school. But, rather than being narrow and stingy, she was generous and loving.
