GUILDERLAND — The town is set to receive $1.1 million in federal funds through the state’s Department of Transportation to do highway safety improvement along Carman Road.

GUILDERLAND — William Beer, 42, will serve no jail time for assault. He was sentenced in Guilderland Town Court on June 30 for a conviction handed down by a jury three months ago.

His lawyer, Madalyn R. DeThomasis, said this week that a notice of appeal has been filed.

GUILDERLAND — The school board here has new leaders, elected in split votes on July 5 at its annual reorganizational meeting.

In sports, players and coaches often talk about senior leadership.  The seniors of BKW, Voorheesville, and Guilderland helped their sports teams thrive in 2016 and are moving on after graduation.

GUILDERLAND — More than two years after the Guilderland School District, faced with declining enrollment, sought ways to contend with empty classrooms, the school board Tuesday agreed to a contract with Victory Child Care.

A village memorial  to Christine Marshall, an Altamont trustee from 2007 to 2016, is dedicated on June 30 in the triangular green space formed by the intersection of Maple Avenue and Bozenkill Road.

ALTAMONT— A man who was still playing fast-pitch softball at age 50, Thomas R. Spohr took a lot of pleasure from life and enjoyed sharing its pleasures with others. He died Saturday, June 25, 2016, at age 82.

Austin Carter appreciates the police who offered protection when he was harassed. Since he was small, he has wanted to be a police officer himself.
