A paperwork snafu held up the approval of a new tattoo shop in Altamont Corners while the village planning board told the owner of Curry Patta restaurant, also located in the plaza, it needed additional information about a cigar and hookah area she wants to have on the deck expansion it approved last month.

GUILDERLAND — Four candidates are running for three seats on Guilderland’s nine-member school board.

The Guilderland boys volleyball team was finishing up their 2020 fall sports II shorten season with a trip to Christian Brothers Academy in Colonie on Thursday, April 23 before the playoffs began but the Dutch didn't qualify. Guilderland won three sets to none; 25-18, 25-21, 25-18.

ALTAMONT — A 3 p.m. memorial service will be held at the Reid Northrup Memorial Stage in the grove at the Altamont fairgrounds on Sunday, May 2, to celebrate and remember the life of Porter E. Bidleman.

He died on Nov. 24, 2020 at the age of 94.

“Our community can rest assured that we are taking all appropriate precautions to restore our systems in a safe and secure manner and we will be incorporating additional technologies into our cybersecurity program as we move forward,” said Guilderland Superintendent Marie Wiles.

The library’s director, Timothy Wiles, believes the confluence of the pandemic shutdown with construction work on an $8 million expansion project has resulted in a “great success” — he expects construction work will be completed 11 months early, by Aug. 31, 2021 rather than the original end date of July 2022.

GUILDERLAND — In-person classes for Guilderland students in seventh through 12th grades will be postponed again on Tuesday as the district works to repair damage done by a cyber attack on its computer systems.
