1975 Western Ave., once known as Westlawn Lanes, is seeking a special-use permit for a change of use from a bowling alley to a local shopping center. The application was OK’d by the Albany County Planning Board on Sept. 16. The proposal has yet to come before any Guilderland town boards. 

Hiawatha Land Development will be receiving about $2.46 million in sales-tax exemptions and approximately $664,000 in mortgage-recording tax exemptions, but not the $1.06 million in property-tax exemptions it had been seeking.

The undefeated Dutchmen faced off against Niskayuna at Snyder field Sept. 23. The Dutch led at the half but yielded the tying goal in the second half to end in a 1-1 draw. Earlier in the week, Guilderland Head Coach Mike Kinnally won his 200th game.

GUILDERLAND — Lillian Mae Bellinger came into this world on Sept. 22, 1929, and left it the same day, 92 years later.

“Kim stood out because she has already invested so much time in the district,” Seema Rivera, the school board president, told The Enterprise this week, citing Kim Blasiak’s extensive work with the PTA.

Aiden Chrysler

Aiden Chrysler, who plays on the Guilderland varsity football team, was given the Youth Hero Award by the American Legion Auxiliary at Friday Night’s game. Last November, he saved his mother’s life, when she was choking and could not breathe; he performed the Heimlich maneuver.

The car seat check will run Saturday, Sept. 25, from 11 a.m. to  2 p.m. in the overflow parking lot.
