Part of President Joe Biden’s climate-change agenda is protecting 30 percent of United States lands and ocean territories by 2030, known as “30 by 30.” Currently, about 26 percent of the United States’ ocean territories are protected but only about 12 percent of the nation’s land area is protected.

The new station, which supervisor Peter Barber says will be equal distance between the two locations, is to be built near the town-owned golf course, with access to both routes 20 and 146.

A few households are using five or six times the water a typical home would use, Supervisor Peter Barber told the town board at its Feb. 15 meeting. “Everybody else is subsidizing these overages,” he said.

On Monday, Feb. 14, the Guilderland bowling team participated in the Section 2, Class A sectional championships at Boulevard Bowl in Schenectady. The Dutch finished eighth with 5613 total pins.

The Elliott House Thrift Shop in Norton Hill will be open for the 2022 season beginning Wednesday, March 16.
The hours are Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The shop is closed in inclement weather.

William J. Smith III

ALTAMONT — William J. Smith III was a hardworking man who held many jobs over the years to provide for his wife and son. “Family came first,” said his son, William James Smith IV.
Mr. Smith “went home to be with his Heavenly Father” on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, his family wrote in a tribute.  He was 88.

GUILDERLAND — In 2015, John Haluska took it upon himself to start sprucing up Guilderland’s historic markers.
