On Saturday, April 5, Guilderland, Bethlehem, and Voorheesville track teams took part in the Guilderland Frigid Cup Invitational held at Guilderland High School. As the athletes competed fiercely on the track and in the field, Mother Nature had other ideas.

When I was a child in the 1960s, Altamont meant cows and farms, hayfields and apple trees, old houses and open spaces. We had moved from the village mid-decade, but we never really left it. We’d head back to the village at every opportunity — to visit friends, go to church, or often just to “take a ride.”

Supervisor Peter Barber went through a long list of events happening in town near Earth Day, which is on Tuesday, April 22, this year.

The six-month drive-thru closure resulted in a $400,000 revenue loss,  the company claims, while repair of the pipe and pumping of the accumulating stormwater cost over $1 million.

Erik Carman, a doctor of physical therapy and founder of Altamont Physical Therapy, has received certification for a program that trains Parkinson’s patients in the kinds of bigger movements that the neurological disease makes difficult.  

On Saturday, March 29, the Guilderland girls’ lacrosse team kicked off its season with a non-league game down in Section 9 against Valley Central High School. The Vikings jumped out early on the Dutch, which they couldn’t battle out of and fell, 11 to 6.

In the end, the draft budget restored 70 percent of the first-grade teaching assistants. It also restored two-tenths of a librarian’s position at Altamont Elementary School, another cut that had spurred protests from a committed Altamont contingent.
