GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland YMCA is presenting an adult learn-to-swim program open to the public and all YMCA members on Friday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. for eight weeks, running from Sept.13 to Nov. 1.

Classes are in small groups.

John M. Bagyi, a partner in the Albany office of Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, has been named “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers in America in two areas: Employment Law – Management, and the Labor Law - Management.

He is a Guilderland High School graduate and Voorheesville resident.

To the Editor:

The present town court elected officials spend only four days a month in town court, and they alternate between weeks. They are on call during the month but there is no indication as to how many hours each elected official spends on that aspect of the position.

After a week of listening to fair music, rides and concessionaires calling to get your attention, the quiet is almost disturbing. Many people are remembering the rides and food at the fair while others are thinking about the end of summer, which seems to be rapidly approaching.

On Tuesday, Aug. 20, the Altamont Senior Citizens had a delicious homemade luncheon prepared by Sister Mary Lou Liptak.  The group raved about it throughout the meal!

The Guilderland Senior Services is offering the following activities the week of Sept. 2. Call the senior office at 356-1980, ext. 1048 for any questions or information.

To the Editor:

Thank you to the Guilderland Police Department for ticketing dangerous drivers who violate the traffic laws, such as Devin Brent

To the Editor:

I was surprised to read the letter from Guilderland Republican Chairman Matt Nelligan about running a truthful election campaign.

Perhaps feeling the pressure of several years of budget cuts, the formerly cohesive Guilderland School board, functioning under new leadership, has been deeply divided on small issues of pay.

Detailed plans haven't been drawn up yet, but David Messercola, chairman of the board of fire commissioners, expects construction will begin next summer.
