The state’s Department of Environmental Conservation has established the Capital District Emerald Ash Borer Task Force to help fight and slow the spread of the destructive insect.

Altamont Community Tradition would like to thank everyone who made the 13th Annual Victorian Holiday Celebration a huge success. We are extremely thankful to our gracious house hosts as they opened their historic homes as part of this year’s Holiday House Tour.

With church bells ringing and horns of all sorts blowing, people around the world have gathered to greet another new year at the stroke of midnight.

St. John’s Lutheran Church at 140 Maple Ave. in Altamont will observe Jan. 4, as Epiphany Sunday with an informal worship service at 8:30 and a traditional service at 11 a.m.

Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m.

Just before Christmas, two fires forced Guilderland residents from their homes.

GUILDERLAND — The next step in solving the school district’s problem of too much space for too few students will likely be the appointment of a citizens’ task force to study different ways of repurposing some classrooms.

Over the last 75 years there have been a number of fictional super heroes who have possessed “super speed”. The Flash, as this speedster is known, has the ability to run and move extremely fast, use superhuman reflexes, and seemingly violate certain laws of physics.

The Guilderland basketball team is off to a hot start with no losses.

On Nov.18, Troop 79 out of Berne held a Court of Honor.  Eighty-two merit badges were earned as well as five rank advancements.  Liam Hanley earned Life Scout, Jake Valachovic and Devin Longendyke earned Star Scout, and Ben Boone earned both his Tenderfoot rank and Second Class
