GUILDERLAND — The town’s Parks and Recreation Department is offering several programs for fall and winter.

GUILDERLAND — The force’s Lifesaving Award is “not given very often,” said Police Chief Carol Lawlor, but Officer Bob Bailey recently received it — for the second time.

GUILDERLAND — Stanislav Petkevichus, 28, of Guilderland, pleaded guilty on Oct. 27 to conspiring to distribute oxycodone, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Guilderville’s Evanna Peng was the top diver in Section 2 and will go on the state competition.

Kasey Keaney, in the 200-yard individual medley, and Belen Marriaga, in the 100-yard butterfly, placed in their heats at Shenendehowa High School Friday. Sydney Steinhardt will compete in a sectional consolation final.

The emotions were running high for the Guilderland Dutchmen and the Voorheesville Blackbirds last weekend, in their sectional semifinals.

The chilly weather didn’t keep the Guilderland and Voorheesville boys’ soccer teams from bringing their best to the pitch in the Class AA sectional semifinal, October 28, and Class B sectional final, October 29.

For about $38,600, covered by grants and contributions, Altamont will soon have a series of signs at 26 sites, meant to inform residents and attract visitors.

Lead-testing results are in for Farnsworth Middle School, and there are 95 water outlets that must be remediated in some way, even simply by labeling them “for hand-washing only.” However, 7 of the 95 actionable sites are outlets that were used for drinking or cooking.

ALTAMONT — Ellen Schreibstein, who manages the front desk for The Enterprise, told her husband about a visitor who came to the news office asking where in the village postcards of Altamont could be purchased.

The answer: Nowhere.
