The Guilderland Chamber of Commerce reached out recently to businesses in Altamont in an effort to form a village business committee. Michelle Viola-Straight, the chamber’s president, said the chamber is also looking to expand into Voorheesville and the Hilltowns.

A local women’s 40-and-over team of players ranked at the 3.5 level will travel to Texas in October to play for the national title. Many of the same women are also on an 18-and-over team that will play in the nationals in Florida the week before.

ALTAMONT — This week, Wayne Knapp and Kathy Mack, a couple from Guilderland, will be strolling the grounds of Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s Virginia plantation, and they will also be exploring, on foot, the nation’s capital of country music: Nashville, Tennessee.
