Changes in pavement markings on Route 20 in Guilderland this week, near the public library and near the town hall, are meant to improve safety.

GUILDERLAND — A handful of residents of McKownville are beginning the process of applying for designation as a historic district through the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

The Lupine Fest, a free celebration hosted by the Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission, will be held this year on June 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Activities will emanate from the Pine Bush Discovery Center at 195 New Karner Road.

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Chamber of Commerce will present this year’s Annual Business Awards at its 46th Annual Awards Dinner and Gala on June 2 at the Albany Country Club, The event will run from 6 to 9 p.m.

Paul A. Gardner grew up in Guilderland, hunting with his brothers for rabbits and birds that their mother would cook. His passion for hunting eventually took him around the globe, meeting challenges and making world records.
