GUILDERLAND — Harriet May Baumes is remembered by her family as a strong woman and a hard worker who taught her children never to be afraid to try new things.

Harriet (née Douglas) Baumes died on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She was 96.
