ALBANY COUNTY — The Albany County Soil and Water Conservation District is offering a free tire recycling event for county residents. Made possible through the use of state’s Conservation Project Financial Assistance funds, the event will take place during the week of Oct.

The Albany County Soil and Water Conservation District has begun a countywide erosion-control program using its new hydroseeder. In 2016, conservation district staff completed several successful projects in partnership with municipal highway departments.

ALBANY COUNTY — To help shoulder the burden of routine road ditch maintenance, the Albany County Soil and Water Conservation District has applied for and received funding to control soil erosion from road banks and road ditches in Albany County.

The Albany County Soil and Water Conservation District held its 30th annual tree and shrub sale this spring. Over 225 local residents planted 8,150 seedlings.  In the last decade, residents have planted over 137,300 trees in the last 10 years alone, through this program.  These trees and shrubs are sold bare root and vary in size.

A tour of three sites in the Hilltowns Tuesday morning showed off the conservation projects that have been the labor of the Albany County Soil and Water Conservation District, partnered with the federal Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Three councilmen met quickly to accept a plan to have federal and state funds cover all the costs of a stream restoration project along Route 143 in Westerlo.
