Guilderland library may double in size

GUILDERLAND — The library trustees unanimously supported plans to renovate the Guilderland Public Library and nearly double its size. The cost could range from $11 million to $12 million.

GUILDERLAND — Two candidates — Vishnu Chaturvedi and John Daly — will be on the ballot on May 20 for library trustee. Three seats are open on the 11-member board and a third candidate, Michael Fox, has launched a write-in campaign.

RENSSELAERVILLE — The town now has a new plan for spending. 

ALBANY COUNTY — After a brushfire in Rensselaerville last Thursday, Albany County Executive Michael Breslin has declared a state of emergency and banned outdoor fires.

Three to run for two open seats

BERNE — This spring, three candidates will vie for two seats on the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School Board.  Both seats carry three-year terms.

Langevin says she’ll stay in community

NEW SCOTLAND –Voorheesville’s school superintendent, Linda Langevin, announced her resignation last night, citing an illness in the family as the cause.  Her resignation will be effective as of Aug. 31.

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland girls’ softball team has gotten off to a strong start this spring.

The Lady Dutch have won their first five games this season, some in resounding fashion.
