Albany’s vote against bond may halt landfill expansion

ALBANY COUNTY — The Albany Common Council voted against a $1.35 million bond to fund the expansion of the Rapp Road landfill on Monday. It was the second time the council voted down the bond.

GUILDERLAND — The Industrial Development Agency and the town board have decided to approve an extension on the Guilderland YMCA’s $5.24 million bond.

Village adopts $2M budget, up $40K from last year

ALTAMONT — A grand archway once marked the village entrance to the Altamont Fair from, appropriately enough, Grand Street.

Marie McMillen, the fair’s operations manager, would like to see that entryway rebuilt.

GUILDERLAND — After just under a year on the school board, Julie Fletcher Cuneo, last May’s top vote-getter, is stepping down.

Although she regrets not finishing her three-year term, Cuneo said, she’s putting family first.

A Remembrance Ceremony will be held on May 16 for the families and friends of those who have died of suicide.

GUILDERLAND — Supervisor Kenneth Runion shocked the town board on Tuesday night when he voted with the Republicans — rather than with his fellow Democrats — against a local law that he had originally proposed.
