Voorheesville Football

On Saturday, Oct. 12, the Voorheesville football team held their senior day as they took on Corinth/Hadley-Luzerne. The Voorheesville defense didn’t allow anything and the offense had their way on the ground in route to their 43-to-0 win.

On Friday, Sept. 6, the Voorheesville football team traveled to Rensselaer High School to take on the Rams. The Birds used a dominant first half to soar away to a 42-to-16 win.

On Saturday, Sept. 23, the Voorheesville football team took on the Canajoharie-Fort Plain Cougars at home. On a fall day, the Blackbirds lost two key members due to injuries and lost the match, 46 to 7.

On Friday, Oct. 14, the Voorheesville football team traveled to Canajoharie High School to take on the Canajoharie-Fort Plain Cougars. The Blackbirds offense couldn’t muster much offense against a stingy defense. The Blackbirds lost 16 to 0.

On Saturday, Sept. 3, the Voorheesville football team took on Watervliet at home. After falling in overtime last year, the Blackbirds didn’t look back from the opening whistle in their 28-13 win.

On Saturday, Oct 30, the Voorheesville football team took to the gridiron at home to take on Cobleskill-Richmondville in the quarterfinals in the Section 2, Class C football championships.

Guilderland and Voorheesville were on the road for their sectional quarterfinal matchups last Friday and Saturday. Both football teams had a rough time against their opponents.

The Voorheesville Blackbirds and Guilderland Dutchmen are facing this season with new field generals since their mainstays graduated in June. The Dutchmen and Blackbirds opened the season last Friday and Saturday.

As the weather changed, the play on the gridiron rose for Guilderland, Oct 21., and Voorheesville, Oct. 22, football teams during sectionals.
