Last Friday, Sept. 10, the Voorheesville Blackbirds opened up their season against Watervliet. The Birds showed the Cannoneers that there’s no quit in this team to tie the game up with under a minute left, but the Cannoneers took control in overtime to win, 28 to 22.

The 2019 football season kicked off at home this weekend for both the Guilderland Dutchmen and the Voorheesville Blackbirds. The Dutch players faced off against Shaker, a team they’ve battled in playoffs. The Dutch fell to the formidable Bison team, 41 to 23, on Friday night.
