Trooper Timothy Hard seemed to have everything to live for when he took his own life on Thursday, two days after retiring from the state police.

Two local residents are among the 192 new members of the State Police: Trooper Joseph Turoski of Voorheesville, and Trooper Megan Lohman of Delmar.

Both were honored at the 205th session graduation ceremony from the Basic School of the New York State Police Academy was held on Wednesday, May 10.

The arrest of a 30-year-old man from Voorheesville for drunk driving after a one-car accident on the Northway led to minor injury to the investigating State Trooper.  

The 911 call in a recent domestic violence incident that led to a felony strangulation charge for a Guilderland resident  was made by the accused himself, said Trooper Mark Cepiel, public information officer with the New York State Police.

A county medical examiner said the cause of Carl Baranishyn Jr.'s death was suicide by police.

The cause and circumstances are still being investigated. No tickets or charges have been issued so far.

GUILDERLAND — Police in Mississippi and Texas have been as stymied as police here in solving brutal murders of Chinese families.

GUILDERLAND — At least four different agencies are working together to solve the quadruple homicide that was discovered last Wednesday, Oct. 8, where a couple and their two children were murdered in their Guilderland home at 1846 Western Avenue.
