Assistant District Attorney Steven Sharp is painting a picture of Maeweather as being involved in gang warfare that came to a head at Crossgates Mall.

Tasheem Maeweather, accused of firing a gun in Crossgates in November, was sentenced today in Albany County Court to nine years in state prison for violating the terms of his probation on an earlier felony drug charge.

Maeweather is the 20-year-old Albany man accused of shutting down Crossgates Mall by firing a gun inside the mall on Nov. 12. He was indicted by a grand jury on four felony charges and pleaded “not guilty” to all charges on Monday before Judge Roger D. McDonough in Albany County Supreme Court.

ALBANY COUNTY — “He’s a sweet kid,” said Tasheem Maeweather’s lawyer.

Tasheem Maeweather’s two felony charges following a shooting in Crossgates Mall will be carried over to a grand jury.
