Pushback from New Scotland residents over the proposed hamlet rezoning plan was significant enough that changes to the plan call for another public hearing.  

Guilderland’s town board approved sending a Planned Unit Development proposal on Winding Brook Road near the YMCA to the planning board for review. Another PUD for Hiawatha Trails Land Development is currently being considered by the planning board and faces stiff public opposition. ​

Hurst Road is a secluded, two-lane, mostly rural byway that links Altamont to Guilderland Center.

While other Knox residents have spoken out in favor of a new business district in town, residents living in that proposed district are concerned about pollution and noise, and wonder why the town has brought the issue back up for debate.

Without a town planner for over a year, Guilderland is considering several large projects as residents express concerns.

At its Dec. 13 meeting, the New Scotland Town Board dealt with a long-running issue.

A draft of a new plan for zoning the hamlet of New Scotland was presented to the town board on Thursday, Nov. 30.

The New Scotland Planning Board dropped its appeal to the zoning board over the building inspector’s determination as to what constitutes a flashing sign, after the town board’s passing of a new law rendered the appeal moot.
