The New York Coalition for Open Government, a not-for-profit advocate for government transparency, says it filed two Freedom of Information Law requests with the Albany County Board of Elections for meeting minutes last summer, but the board never acknowledged either.

Berne Councilman Joel Willsey sent an email addressed to Supervisor Sean Lyons and Deputy Supervisor Dennis Palow requesting that they resign from their positions; Willsey believes they deliberately attempted to mislead the public about this year’s town government appointments.

Following an inquiry from The Enterprise, New York State’s Committee on Open Government has issued an opinion that the Berne Town Board has been calling for executive sessions under inappropriate pretenses.

Westerlo's town board came under fire at Tuesday's meeting, accused by a few residents of continuing to exclude the public. 

"When did you guys discuss this?" a citizen asked the council members who plan to borrow for a multi-million-dollar project; we urge residents to petition for a permissive referendum.

Once said to have been given a cold-shoulder, Dianne Sefcik is now embraced for her input on the long-awaited document.
