Six Guilderville swimmers left for Ithaca today for this weekend's state competition and they couldn't be happier.

These days, female athletes are taking the spotlight at Guilderland as five signed Division I scholarships. Also, a former Dutch soccer star made an All Rookie team for her efforts in college.

Guilderland's successful volleyball season ended in the semifinals last Thursday after four competitive sets with Bethlehem.

Senior Lydia Parker scored for Voorheesville from about midfield with 20 seconds left in regulation play to force the Class B final with Catholic Central into overtime where the Crusaders were victorious.

Four or five soccer teams can make a case for a Class AA championship in 2014, and Guilderland is certainly one of them.

Soccer sectionals have started, and Voorheesville had an excellent win over Cohoes as the team will face Ichabod Crane, again.

Voorheesville is having one of its best football seasons ever.

The Section 2 golf tournament was held in Altamont on Tuesday, and Guilderland's Will Burger didn't take many practice swings.

A fourth-quarter comeback by Ballston Spa last Friday made Guilderland's bad football season even worse.

No other soccer team in Section 2 has allowed fewer goals — three — than the Berne-Knox-Westero Bulldogs. The team is comfortably in first place.
