In the rural Hilltowns, an area described as “unserved and underserved,” in terms of internet, service providers are looking to change this.

Stewart’s Shops has yet to open a store in the Hilltowns, but is set to announce a new location in either Berne or Knox by next month. Both town supervisors are vying for the spot, saying that it would help their town, while local businesses are wary of competitors.

The superintendent alleges the supervisor had overstepped his authority in several instances.

The tax rate will decrease from $4.65 percent per $1,000 of assessed valuation to $4.50,  making the effective tax rate 3 percent lower than it was in 2016.

The Guilderland Town Historian first learned that a man had already painted 22 markers when she saw a photo of him posing before a half-painted sign in The Enterprise.

BERNE — Randy Bashwinger, Berne’s highway superintendent, led a procession of 50 down the town’s main street under darkening skies Wednesday evening. On the march from the school to Town Hall they shouted, “Berne lives matter.”

When that chant petered out, they started calling “Crosier needs to go.”
