Pay-Up Week.

This is National Pay Up Week. It began on the 21^st and will end on the 26^th. A number of our friends, in making their rounds and squaring their accounts, have forgotten the editor. But there is still time.

ALTAMONT — The Altamont Archives and Museum will host an exhibit beginning in about April that will highlight several important recent gifts to the collection.

The exhibit is to be called “Given in Trust: Recent Gifts to the Museum Collections.”

Wearing their purple hearts, a group of Iwo Jima veterans met on the 71st anniversary of the famous flag-raising and recalled the 1945 battle over breakfast in Altamont.

Funds from state and county grants, town parks, and private donations are being dedicated to the relocation of the Hilton barn to lands adjacent to the Albany County rail trail.

The village board asked residents for their thoughts on saving the 19th-Century home of Altamont's first doctor.

A standing-room-only crowd attended an Albany County Helderberg Hudson Rail Trail information session Tuesday at the Cornell Cooperative Extension office in Voorheesville and learned that the entire rail trail would be paved and open in 2017.
 

The home of Frederick Crounse, Altamont’s first doctor, at 759 Route 146, the village’s main street, has sat empty for about three decades.
