Guilderland Players’ production of “Les Misérables” hits the stage at Guilderland High School March 14, 15, and 16, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 17, at 3 p.m.

Guilderland and Guilderville athletes took to the bright lights and the big stage of state competition this past weekend in gymnastics, swimming, and track.

Guilderland’s co-ed cheerleading team looked to use its momentum from winning its fourth straight sectional title to try to win its first state title at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester on Saturday.

On Sunday morning, Guilderland’s top indoor track athletes looked to punch their tickets to the state competition on Staten Island this Saturday. Isabella Bruno, Jordon Kimbrough, and Nick Soldevere qualified.

Last Thursday, the Guilderland Dutchmen girls' basketball opened up in the quarterfinals in the class AA sectional playoffs at Shenendehowa High School against Colonie. The Dutch fell 59-to-53.

Their cheers were loud during Saturday’s competition at Colonie High. The Dutch had won its fourth straight Section 2 title. The champions had a score of 86.05 out of 100 points. The team is coached by Jessalynn Crusado.

The next step for each of the athletes on the Guilderland, Voorheesville, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo indoor track teams is to compete in this Sunday’s state qualifiers for a chance to head to the state competition on March 2 on Long Island.

The Guilderland-Voorheesville boys’ swim team, in the Section 2 championships at Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park on Friday and Saturday, looked to lock down more qualifications for the March 1 and 2 state competition.

Nine Guilderland and one Berne-Knox-Westerlo wrestlers were among the best in Section 2, hoping to win on Saturday at the Glens Falls Civic Center so they could go on to state competition. None succeeded. Guilderland finished 22nd with 67 points and BKW didn’t score.
