Richard Amedure of Rensselaerville announced his candidacy Friday for the 46th State Senate District.

“I’m very disciplined and very determined,” said Amedure, a long-time member of the Rensselaerville Planning Board.

The ins and outs of BANs create a headache for Knox.

Amedore won a second term in the State Senate with 60 percent of the vote against Sara Niccoli, a Democrat making her first run for state office.

Abortion and climate change were two of the issues that the candidates most stridently disagreed on during a well-attended debate Tuesday night. Each wants to represent the critical 46th District in the State Senate.

“First and foremost, this is a public-safety issue,” said Senator George Amedore at the press conference. “It’s also a quality of life issue.”

Friday was a busy day in Berne as two public works projects brought officials to the Helderberg Hilltown — one project was completed and another is about to begin.

The law passed both houses without any opposing votes. It was a minor adjustment to the social services law that deals with access to private records during an investigation of a missing child.
