GUILDERLAND — Rachel Guyer, 13 and an eighth-grader at Farnsworth Middle School, won the National American Miss pageant’s Volunteer Service Award at the state pageant in August, which earned her a spot in this year’s national competition.

Volunteers at Farnsworth Middle School Saturday collected and sorted the objects neglected by homeowners and prepared them for taking on new forms at a recycling facility or new homes through reuse.
Young adults met with students at Farnsworth Middle School to share their stories of being mistreated through technology and its possible consequences, including lasting emotional scars.
