The Westerlo Democratic and Republican parties each put up nearly  identical slates of candidates this year, with the only contest existing between Town Justice Ken Mackey, a Democrat seeking re-election, and Stuart Elderd, a Republican and former corrections officer who said he wants to get more involved in the town. 

Knox Clerk Traci Schanz is seeking re-election on the Republican line, with opposition from former clerk Deborah Liddle, on the Democratic line.

ALBANY COUNTY — Countywide, residents will cast their votes in several elections.

For Albany County Court judge, William T. Little is running unopposed on the Democratic and Working Families party lines.

The Facebook page of the Town of New Scotland Republican Committee shared a post on Jan. 6 from Republican Congressional candidate Liz Joy that called the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol “very peaceful & kind.” Joy wrote that “Everyone there was law abiding,” and sought to blame the day’s violence on left-wing activists. 

Any legislative proposal to amend the Constitution of the State of New York must be passed in two successive legislative sessions; the amendment will then appear on the ballot, which must also pass. This year’s proposed amendments deal with elections, redistricting, the environment, and the courts. 

Democrat Lisa Williams, appointed clerk in December 2020, is squaring off against Republican Lori Dollard for the office’s full two-year term.
